X-rays
X-rays and other types of imaging provide valuable information for both you
and your doctor.
X-rays are a form of energy related to radio waves and sunshine. The shadow
cast onto special film reveals internal structures of the body. These pictures
can reveal fractures, bone diseases and joint degeneration. The can later serve
as documentation of your progress.
Special care is taken to reduce X-ray exposure. This is done by using
ultra-sensitive films and shielding sensitive body parts. It is beneficial to
have an exact visual record of your spine in a weight-bearing position.
Other forms of imaging are helpful, too. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
uses radio waves and strong magnets to create pictures. The CAT Scan (Computer
Aided Tomography) is a form of three-dimensional X-ray. These can provide more
information about the health of both bone and soft tissues.
Chiropractic patients are shown these images at the report of findings.
X-rays and other types of imaging provide information for both you and your
doctor.
Some ways we reduce X-ray exposure:
Only necessary views are taken
Latest up-to-date equipment is used
Regular government inspections
Sensitive high-speed film is used
Highly accurate electronic timing
Luminescent screens amplify image
Filters and collimation limit the beam
Shields protect sensitive body parts
A visual record of your spine can confirm other exam findings and make your
chiropractic care more precise.
